Speaking up for the rights and inclusion of people with learning difficulties and autism in Wiltshire
Speaking Up Group and Young People
Wiltshire People First’s Speaking Up Group and Young People’s Group have looked at a number of topics.
Back at the beginning of the year the groups looked at the general election and how to vote and what to do on polling day.
A special board game was made and members were asked questions about voting as they moved around the board. Michael said “this was a fun way to remind people of what to do”.
The groups have also taken part in a Government consultation paper called ‘No Voice Unheard’ about the rights of people with Learning Difficulties and Mental Ill health and a Wiltshire Council consultation about a learning disability plan. Taking part in these ensures that people’s voices are heard.
